Education Work
Elaine is a keen educator, thoroughly enjoys working with young people and has been active in education work for many years. She has been involved with the BCMG education department since its inception over 20 years ago and regularly participates through playing, coaching or improvising. Projects include annual composition workshops for Birmingham Conservatoire and Birmingham University students, BBC Young Composer Labs and BBC Inspire days as well as community projects with adults, workshops in schools and BCMG’s popular Music Maze workshops.
Elaine has examined string recitals at Birmingham Conservatoire and been invited to give pedagogy lectures to the students. She regularly coaches the orchestras, takes sectionals, runs a cello ensemble and coaches chamber music at Birmingham University. Elaine has always run a hugely popular cello ensemble at Birmingham Junior Conservatoire. She has coached the strings for NYO and CBSO youth Orchestras, worked for several years as an ABRSM diploma examiner and regularly adjudicates at festivals.
